MTN officially launches Mobile Money at 10 to mark ten years of Mobile Financial Services in Ghana. The launch was to celebrate a decade of financial innovation on the great achievement of mobile money which was first launched on 21st July 2009.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Eli Hini, General Manager of MTN Financial Services, said that “As a leader in the in the telecommunications space, beyond our vision ten years ago which was to be the leading telecommunications brand in emerging markets, we also had a desire to provide converged telecommunications solutions to our customers hence our venture into a grey area of using the mobile   phone as a tool to undertake financial transaction.” During his speech, he thanked the government especially the Bank of Ghana for its support. “We will also like to celebrate government and regulators who believed in us and gave us the opportunity because in the beginning many people didn’t know what mobile money was but they believed and they gave us the opportunity. The 2nd Edition of the GNPC Nana Sir Ofori-Atta I National Energy Quiz has been launched by the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, in collaboration with the Energy Ministry.

The 2nd Edition of the GNPC Nana Sir Ofori-Atta I National Energy Quiz has been launched by the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, in collaboration with the Energy Ministry. This annual competition aimed at educating the youth about the energy industry is sponsored by the Ghana National Petroleum Commission and the Petroleum Commission. The Chairman of the launch, Daasebre Prof. Emeritus Emmanuel Oti Boateng, in his address, revealed some historical contributions of Nana Sir Ofori-Atta I in education and the support the current Eastern Regional House of Chiefs are willing to give to support education. He said that “Nana Sir Ofori-Atta remains a giant brand and standard bearer of Chieftaincy leadership, a wellspring of knowledge and an icon in the political history and culture of Ghana.
